SitaWare is the incumbent C4ISR software in a large part of NATO, and its interoperability record is real. The question for a non-aligned buyer is whether a fused picture should depend on a foreign software licence, and on sensors bought from someone else again.

In service, not experimental

Our fusion suites are in service in command posts, correlating live radar, RF, optical and unmanned-platform feeds rather than replaying recorded data in a demonstration. The operator stays in the loop on every decision, and the same team supplies the sensors, the links and the displays.

What the table means

Give the incumbent its due

SitaWare Headquarters claims more than a million users, 45 or more customers and 25 years of C4ISR delivery, and it is built around coalition data exchange with an SDK for third-party C2. If your operational requirement is to plug into a NATO command network and speak its message formats on day one, that is a hard record to argue with, and we will not try. Buy it and staff it properly.

Software without sensors is half a programme

The SitaWare products fuse what you give them. The radars, RF sensors, cameras and unmanned platforms come from other suppliers, each with its own export licence, its own integration contract and its own view of who is at fault when a track is wrong. Our fusion suite arrives with the sensor chain attached: passive radar that never emits, mesh data links underneath, unmanned platforms above, and one team accountable for the whole picture. Fewer interfaces means fewer arguments and a shorter path from a new sensor to a track on the display.

The picture is the most sovereign thing you own

A common operational picture is a live record of your force disposition, your sensor coverage and your intentions. Running it on foreign software, under foreign support terms, licensed by a government that reviews its export decisions when politics shift, is a choice worth making consciously rather than by default. Our fusion suite carries no third-country approval in its update path, and the team maintaining it is in your region.

Questions buyers ask

What is the best alternative to SitaWare for a government that will not run foreign C4ISR software?

Our sensor-fusion suite is the closest fit where sovereignty is the constraint: radar, RF, optical and unmanned-platform feeds merged into a single operating picture on command-post displays, supplied and sustained without a third-country licence in the update path. Be realistic about the trade. Systematic publishes a very large installed base and formal coalition interoperability including ADatP-03 messaging. If joining a NATO network is a hard requirement, that gap has to be resolved explicitly.

How does sensor fusion bought with its sensors compare with buying a C4ISR product separately?

SitaWare fuses data from sensors you buy elsewhere, which means separate contracts, separate export licences and a shared blame surface when a track goes wrong. Our fusion suite is supplied alongside the passive radar, mesh data links and unmanned platforms that feed it, by one accountable team. The result is fewer integration interfaces and a single supplier to hold responsible for the picture as a whole.

Does a fused picture take the human out of the decision?

No. Correlation runs at machine speed, and the operator stays in the loop for the decisions. The value is in resolving duplicate and conflicting tracks into one trusted picture, which reduces the risk of fratricide and of a real threat being lost between two contradictory feeds while a staff officer reconciles them under pressure.

How does the fusion suite behave when bandwidth collapses?

We do not publish a degraded-link specification, and Systematic does: low-bandwidth optimisation with intelligent prioritisation in SitaWare Headquarters, and tactical communication protocols for denied or degraded environments in Frontline. What we can say is that our fusion suite sits above our own anti-jam, self-healing mesh data links, so the link layer is engineered by the same team as the picture.
