Point Blank and MKU publish their plate numbers. Here is what our armour states, what it does not, and why supply conditions belong on the same table.
Two of the most transparent armour makers in the market put areal density, V50 and plate weight on public datasheets. We hold ours to configuration, which is a real difference a buyer should weigh, alongside who controls the shipment.
Our ballistic protection is issued kit, matched to the threat profile and fitted to the operator, then supported through fitting, sustainment and end-of-life across the engagement. It is configured for a stated requirement rather than sold as catalogue armour with a fixed cut and a fixed panel.

What the table means
Concede the point: their datasheets are better than ours.
Point Blank publishes areal density of 0.79 lb per square foot, 0.20 inches of thickness, panel materials, two V50 figures and the full special-threat list its laboratory fired. MKU publishes plate weight to ±50 g, size to ±5 mm and the ceramic and UHMWPE construction. Our public catalogue states soft and hard-armour configurations, operator-matched fit and in-region sustainment, and no numbers. A buyer comparing PDFs alone should prefer theirs. A buyer running a trial should ask all three of us for test reports against the threat they actually face.
A published number describes one configuration, not your requirement.
Level IIIA soft armour at 0.79 lb per square foot and a 1.35 kg Level III stand-alone plate are answers to specific questions. They are not answers to a mixed force where a vehicle crew, a border patrol and a protection detail carry different threat profiles in different heat. Our armour is specified after that conversation, which is why the catalogue does not carry a single areal density. The trade is real: less to read up front, closer match at issue.
Where the plate is made decides whether the second tranche arrives.
Berry compliance is a genuine strength inside a United States federal purchase and a constraint everywhere else, because it ties the supply chain to US domestic content and, with it, to US export decisions. Neither vendor document says anything about re-export approval, end-use restrictions or resupply priority in a crisis, which is precisely when armour orders double. Our position is an independent, non-aligned origin with no exposure to a major-power ecosystem, and fitting, sustainment and end-of-life handled in region rather than shipped back to a factory across an export boundary.
Questions buyers ask
What is the best alternative to Point Blank body armour for a non-US government buyer?
Point Blank's AXBIIIA is well documented: NIJ 0101.06 Level IIIA, 0.79 lb per square foot, 0.20 inches thick, aramid and UD polyethylene, with published .357 SIG and .44 Mag V50 figures. It is also Berry compliant, which is designed around US federal procurement and brings US supply-chain and export exposure with it. If that exposure is the problem, our armour is configured to your threat profile from an independent, non-aligned source, with fitting and sustainment handled in region. Ask us for the test report for the configuration you are buying rather than a catalogue figure.
How does Unstrat body armour compare with MKU Kavro plates on weight?
We cannot give you an honest comparison, because we do not publish a plate weight and MKU does: 1.35 ±0.05 kg for the P-1605 ceramic and UHMWPE Level III stand-alone plate at 250 × 300 mm and 24 mm thick, and 1.50 ±0.05 kg for the UHMWPE P-1106. Those are credible published numbers. Our weights are stated once the configuration is fixed against your threat list, and we will put them in writing before any trial.
Why does your comparison table say 'Not published' so often in your own column?
Because inventing a figure to fill a cell is how procurement decisions go wrong. Our catalogue states soft and hard-armour configurations, threat-matched protection level, operator-matched fit and in-region sustainment. It does not state areal density, V50 or panel materials, so this page says so and the missing items are logged for publication.
Does NIJ 0101.06 certification matter if the threat is 7.62 × 39 mm?
It matters as a floor, not as an answer. NIJ Level IIIA soft armour, such as Point Blank's AXBIIIA, is a handgun and fragment standard and will not stop a rifle round. MKU states Level III against 7.62 × 51 mm NATO M80 with additional protection against 7.62 × 39 mm AK-47 MSC/M43, which is the honest way to describe a rifle plate. Specify the exact round, the exact velocity and the number of hits you require, then compare test reports rather than level labels.
What happens to armour sustainment if relations with the supplier's government change?
Neither the Point Blank nor the MKU document addresses it, which is normal for a datasheet and unhelpful for a planner. Body armour has a service life, it fails inspections, and replacement demand spikes exactly when politics are difficult. Our answer is one accountable team handling fitting, sustainment and end-of-life in region, from a non-aligned origin, so a resupply decision is not taken in a foreign capital.
