The patrol is the undefended gap. Three vendors publish what a soldier carries; we should too.

MyDefence and DroneShield publish weight, battery life and detection range for their wearable detectors down to the gram. Our manpack closes the same coverage gap and links into the layered architecture, but the published figures are thinner, and buyers deserve to know that before they compare.

In service, not experimental

The manpack is a fielded, soldier-operable item from the same line as the fixed-site sensors and effectors, carried by dismounted teams and integrated into the wider layered defence when in range, not a standalone science project.

What the table means

Where the competition is genuinely strong

MyDefence and DroneShield have published wearable detection for years and their numbers are specific: 840 g for a Wingman 105, 14 hours of battery on a Wingman 103, detection in under 10 seconds, IP67 and cold down to -30 °C. Any buyer comparing on paper will find those figures and expect the same from us. On published detail, they currently win.

What the wearable detectors do not do

All three products in this table detect. None defeats. MyDefence sells the Pitbull jammer alongside Wingman, DroneShield packages RfPatrol with DroneGun Mk4, and Dedrone's RF-360 needs a licensed DedroneTracker.AI instance before it shows you anything. A patrol detector that reports into a wider layered defence, cueing effectors that already exist in the same product line, is a different proposition from a standalone alarm.

Licences, subscriptions and who holds the switch

Dedrone's datasheet is candid: the sensor requires a valid software licence and a cloud or server instance. That is a recurring cost and a dependency held by a foreign vendor. Our manpack ships as part of a system a customer owns, sustained in-region, with no third-party licence gate between a soldier and the alert.

Questions buyers ask

What is the best alternative to MyDefence Wingman for a government buyer avoiding NATO supply chains?

Our drone-detection manpack performs the same dismounted role and, unlike a standalone wearable, links into the layered counter-drone architecture that also holds the effectors. Be clear-eyed on the comparison: MyDefence publishes 840 g to 1,110 g, up to 6 km detection, sub-10-second detection time and 7 to 14 hours of battery. We do not yet publish equivalent figures, so ask for them against your configuration.

How does a drone-detection manpack compare with DroneShield RfPatrol Mk2 on cost of ownership?

RfPatrol Mk2 is 800 g, runs up to 8 hours on a NATO-standard battery and carries a 12-month warranty, with longer terms on request. Its detection database is maintained by DroneShield, which means the device stays current only while that relationship does. Our manpack is sustained through in-region support with spares held locally, so the running cost is training and parts rather than a foreign service contract.

Do these systems jam drones or only detect them?

Wingman, RfPatrol Mk2 and Dedrone RF-360 are detection products. Each vendor sells the defeat capability separately: Pitbull 101 for MyDefence, DroneGun Mk4 for DroneShield. Our manpack is also a detection item, but the effectors it cues are already part of the same counter-UAS line, so a buyer is not integrating two suppliers under fire.

Which dismounted drone detector works in extreme cold?

On published figures, DroneShield RfPatrol Mk2 is tested to -32 °C and MyDefence Wingman to -30 °C, both IP67. Dedrone RF-360 is rated -20 °C to +55 °C at IP65. We do not publish an environmental rating for the manpack, and the wider counter-UAS line is stated as -20 °C to +50 °C. If you operate in Arctic or high-altitude conditions, request the tested envelope in writing from every vendor including us.
