Ukrspecsystems has the better published proof of field modularity
PD-2 changes its whole airframe configuration in 15 minutes with no tools, and Ukrspecsystems publishes the resulting MTOW, endurance and ceiling for each of the three states. That is a specific, testable claim and it is stronger than most modularity copy in this market. It is also modularity of one aircraft, sold as a finished system. Our kits go a level lower: the unit builds and rebuilds the airframe itself from interchangeable parts.
The question is authority, not adhesive
Most sealed platforms are physically openable. What stops a technician is the warranty, the missing part number and the absence of a build manual. A kit answers all three by design, because the unit assembled it in the first place. That matters most where availability, not peak specification, decides whether the ISR picture exists on a given morning.
Where a finished airframe wins
If you need 10 hours at 4,700 m with an 11 kg payload, buy the finished aircraft. PD-2 publishes those numbers, and a squad-built kit does not reach them. The ownership difference is what happens after a hard landing: with a kit, the damaged part is replaced from stores by the crew; with a finished mini UAS, the answer depends on the vendor's repair policy, which Baykar does not publish. Ask both suppliers for mean time to return an airframe to service, with and without depot involvement.
Do modular kits sacrifice performance compared with a factory-built UAS?
Yes, at the top end, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our kits are ISR airframes assembled at unit level; we do not publish an endurance or payload figure that competes with PD-2's 11 kg payload and 10 hours. What kits buy you is availability and adaptation speed: a new sensor onto a common airframe in days rather than in a procurement cycle.
Which supplier lets a country build its own drone industrial base fastest?
A kit line does, because the skills transfer with the hardware. Assembly, repair and reconfiguration training sits alongside the flying course in our training pipeline, so the same people who fly the airframe can rebuild it. Ukrspecsystems now runs training programmes through a UK consortium and Baykar runs a structured operator programme, but both train you to operate their aircraft rather than to manufacture and repair one.
