Our Imaging Suite against VGSTUDIO MAX, Comet Yxlon's Software Suite and Nordson Revalution.
Volume Graphics owns CT analysis and admits nothing about acquisition. Comet Yxlon and Nordson ship software with their own machines. A buyer who wants acquisition, review and reporting on hardware they already own is choosing between a licence and a dependency.
Our Imaging Suite is already deployed in defence, aerospace and industrial applications and is widely used for real-time radiography inspection, paired with a high-end acquisition workstation. It is the review layer behind our own inspection cells, which means it runs against production workloads every day rather than in demonstration.

What the table means
Volume Graphics is the best analysis software in this comparison, and it does not acquire an image.
VGSTUDIO MAX imports voxel data, meshes, point clouds and CAD, reconstructs CT volumes, segments them and runs the porosity, GD&T and simulation work that aerospace quality departments depend on. It is also strictly downstream: the detector, the acquisition chain and the manipulator are somebody else's product. If your problem is analysing volumes you already have, buy it. If your problem is running an inspection cell from source control through to an annotated report, it is half of an answer, and the half it does not cover is the half that touches the hardware.
Bundled software is convenient until you own two brands of machine.
Comet Yxlon presents its suite as coordinated with its own inspection systems, and Nordson ships Revalution with the Quadra Pro. Both are well made and both make the machine easier to use. Neither is published as a detector-agnostic acquisition product. A depot that runs a mixed fleet, or that wants to modernise an older cell rather than replace it, ends up with three interfaces, three training regimes and three report formats. Our Imaging Suite integrates with any detector, which is what makes a single review standard across mixed hardware possible.
An inspection standard written by a foreign vendor is a foreign standard.
Every vendor here offers customisation: editions in VGSTUDIO MAX, wizards and presets in Geminy, stored operator layouts in Revalution. What none of them offers is the ability to change what the software does when your acceptance criteria change. Our suite is fully customisable in workflow, defect tooling and reporting, and it carries built-in ASTM-standard routines for validating detector performance so that a result survives audit. For a nation building its own inspection capability, the software layer is where the standard actually lives.
Questions buyers ask
What is the best alternative to VGSTUDIO MAX for a defence inspection facility?
Depends what you are replacing. For CT volume analysis, VGSTUDIO MAX is the strongest product in this comparison and worth its licence, with CT reconstruction, deep segmentation and analysis modules from Essential up to Pro. It does not acquire images and it does not drive a manipulator. Our Imaging Suite covers acquisition against any detector, image processing, ASTM-standard detector validation, manipulator integration and an optional CT module with automatic 3D reconstruction, supplied with the workstation to run it.
How does our Imaging Suite compare with Comet Yxlon Geminy or Nordson Revalution on cost of ownership?
Neither vendor publishes licensing costs, so compare structure instead. Geminy and Revalution come with their own machines, so their cost is embedded in the system price and their value ends at that system's boundary. Our suite integrates with any detector, so an operator can standardise review and reporting across mixed hardware and keep older cells in service rather than replacing them to get a modern interface.
Can inspection software keep data inside our own jurisdiction?
It can if the vendor has no reason to route it elsewhere. None of the three competitor sources addresses data residency; Volume Graphics lists sales and support through Hexagon entities in Germany, Japan, the United States, China and Singapore. Our suite is supplied from an independent, non-aligned source with the workstation on your premises, so the images, the defect calls and the reports stay where you put them.
Do we need CT software, or is radiography review enough?
Start with radiography and buy the path to CT. Most production decisions are made on 2D images, which is why Nordson offers X-Plane slice views without additional CT hardware. Where CT earns its cost is porosity volume, internal geometry and dimensional work, and that is where VGSTUDIO MAX is strong. Our suite adds an optional CT module with built-in automatic 3D reconstruction on the same backbone, so a facility scales from real-time radiography to tomography without retraining on a second product.
